The province of Luxembourg has 52 pétanque courts listed on Mapetanque.be, spread across 25 municipalities. Arlon, the provincial capital, leads with 7 courts, ahead of Vielsalm with 6. The province can boast of being the birthplace of Claudy Weibel, two-time pétanque world champion, crowned in triples in 2000 and in singles in 2015. A historical note: in 1961, a 3,000 m² boulodrome was built at the foot of the Saint-Hubert power station. The building was completely destroyed by fire in 1982 before being rebuilt.
